I took a closer look at Jive and Yammer… and I GET why people want this… it’s familiar and both are being marketed as the answer to communication problems inherent with email. I don’t think anyone can argue that email is a painful part of our lives that we’ve accepted and in turn created rules and extensions just to make sense of it. Jive definitely has a better marketing team.

I’m going to take a deeper dive on Jive…stay tuned.
An interesting read full of fud but provides a compelling argument where I wouldn’t be surprised to find the likes of Yammer and Jive as direct competitors in standard CRM deals: http://www.jivesoftware.com/files/pdf/whitepaper/WP-How-Social-Business-is-Killing-CRM.pdf
